We are excited to welcome Sandra Kitt to the Romance Reads family! Bestselling author of The Color of Love, Sandra Kitt’s “The Millionaire’s Club” contemporary romance series, in which the protagonist unexpectedly comes into a large sum of money which brings a plethora of problems and opportunities, to Deb Werksman at Sourcebooks Casablanca, in a three-book deal, by Lisa Erbach Vance at Aaron M. Priest Literary Agency (world). Read on for more information about Sandra and "The Millionaire's Club!" 1. It’s been eight years since your last book, can you let readers know what you’ve been up to? I have definitely been under the radar for an astonishing 8 years, but I have not been totally idle. I was at the start of a book, an ambitious project, when family circumstances forced me into the role of caregiver twice in a three year period, until I was no longer needed. Family comes first, and I had to put my project aside. Immediately after this responsibility I signed with a publisher to reissue a number of my back-list titles (a second chance at love!). During this period I wrote many blogs related to those titles...and I started again with my original book project. I'm making headway, but it's still a work in progress, but now I'm sharing that time with my new project for Sourcebooks, THE MILLIONAIRES CLUB, which is a trilogy series. 2. Who are you reading and loving right now? It's not so much 'who' as 'what'. I really look for stories that are different, that haven't been told before, and they're out there! Right now I enjoy the varied work of Alyssa Cole who writes in several sub genres. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas is a young adult novel but very timely, and present dozens of possible spin-offs. But a lot of my current reading-for-pleasure happens to be non-fiction because these also stimulate me into thinking of ways these works can be fictionalized. Many of my own mainstream novels are 'what if', or 'suppose' stories that are built on fascinating lives, where we are now culturally, or are new ways of looking at the future. I always incorporate love and relationships into my stories because that's what life is all about. The book They Can't Kill Us All by journalist Wesley Lowery was painful to read but, again, sparked a lot of ideas for me. Also, Educated. And so it goes. There are a lot of other stories in these stories. The possibilities are endless. 2. Can you tell readers a little bit about what they can expect from “The Millionaire’s Club” series? The trilogy will be a very different look at what being a multi-millionaire can mean in someone's life. First comes the indulgences and spending sprees, until the not-to-be-avoided changes, good and bad, happen. They are invariably game-changers, but how to survive and not go down in flames? It's definitely a cautionary tale about how much is really enough or too much. The foundation that gets my heroines and heroes through the minefields and surprises is love. It's the one thing the protagonists come to realize is really what makes for a rich life. I've already begun to think beyond the initial three stories.
