However, you may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child.

California’s ‘Shine the Light’ Law
Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, a California resident with whom we have an established relationship has the right to request information about our disclosure of personal information to affiliated companies or third parties for their direct marketing purposes, within the immediately preceding calendar year, subject to certain exceptions. Sourcebooks LLC does not disclose our customers’ personal information to affiliated companies or third parties for their direct marketing purposes. For additional information on your rights under this law, please refer to CA Civil Code Section 1798.83.
- Request a copy of the personal information that we have collected about the individual within the preceding 12 months before the request,
- Request that we delete the personal information we have collected from the individual, subject to certain exceptions, and
- Opt-out of the sale of his/her/their personal information.
Once we receive and verify your request for a copy of the personal information that we have collected about you within the preceding 12-month period, we will disclose to you:
- The categories of personal information we collected about you;
- The categories of sources from which the personal information has been collected;
- The specific pieces of personal information we collected about you;
- Our business or commercial purpose for collecting or selling any personal information.
We may deny your deletion request if retaining the information is necessary for us to:
- Complete the transaction for which we collected the personal information, provide a good that you requested, take actions reasonably anticipated within the context of our ongoing business relationship with you, or otherwise perform our agreement with you. For example, we may not delete your personal information insofar as it is needed to honor our returns policy with you.
- Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, illegal activity, or prosecute those responsible for such activities.
- Comply with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act.
- Enable internal uses that are reasonably aligned with consumer expectations based on your relationship with us.
- Comply with a legal obligation.
- Make other internal and lawful uses of that information that are compatible with the context in which you provided it
