Meet Cara Pax from Risk it All by Katie Ruggle

Welcome to the Bounty Hunting Happenings Podcast! Today we’re talking to Cara Pax of Pax Bail Recovery Services.

Bounty Hunting Happenings: How did you get your start in the bond-retrieval business?
 
Cara: My oldest sister, Molly, came up with the idea to start the business a few years ago. We learned all about the ins and outs of the criminal-justice system from our mom.
 
BHH: Oh? Was she in law enforcement?

​Cara: No. She was just arrested a lot.

BHH: Oh. [Pause] Well, moving on, what current case are you working on?
 
Cara: What case am I officially working on, or what case have I tried to quit several times unsuccessfully as I find myself chasing after a certain skip who’s too hot for his own good?
 
BHH: Uh…[clears throat]. Let’s go with the official one.
 
Cara: I’m looking for a tax-evader. On paper, he seems harmless, but my gut is telling me there’s more to him than meets the eye.
 
BHH: Sounds intriguing.
 
Cara: And probably dangerous. What’s the worst that could happen, though? That I get caught breaking into a certain hot skip’s hotel room?
 
BHH: This is the same…hot skip you’re trying not to chase.
 
Cara: That’s the one.
 
BHH: It sounds like you’re up to your eyeballs in danger right now.
 
Cara: I don’t know how this happened. Usually, I stick to the administrative side of the business and let my sisters handle all the action. The most danger I normally face is a paper cut.
 
BHH: So what’s your plan?
 
Cara: To become a kindergarten teacher.
 
BHH: Uh…no, what’s your bounty hunting plan?
Cara: Stay alive, and avoid Henry Kavenski like my life—or at least my heart—depends on it.
 
BHH: Well, good luck with that.
 
Cara: Thanks. I think I’m going to need it.
